Nice book, poor CD |
I like the book, great photos, well written, although some topics are described very briefly (eg there is barely one page about starting). Also, some statements made (eg use lots of tiller when beating) could do with a bit of clarification. The CD contains some footage that is very interesting in itself, but the video quality is very poor. Within a frame of 640x480 a video window of approx 320x200 is shown, which cannot be resized (eg full screen). In terms of quality it looks like an old 8mm movie. Perhaps the makers are indeed using very old equipment as suggested by the installation documentation which only mentions Windows 3.1 and Windows 95!!! Moreover, the setup program tries to install Quicktime 2.1, whereas version 6 is out for some time now. Come on guys, why are you forcing us to install this antique piece of software? Dont tell me the average reader still runs Windows 3.1...

This book is an invaluable guide for those who race Lasers |
|
Ben Ainslie is not just cashing in on his Olympic success with this book. Its a very practical guide with good illustrations and the bonus of a great CD. Sections on personal training, boat rigging, going faster and how to win make this a worthwhile investment for all keen Laser racers.
